You select your desired installation type and voila! NOTE - For new SERVER INSTALLS at existing client sites please re run the Workstation Install on each GeeDee PC. This will update any required registry settings and more importantly it will perform a communications test back to the new server. EXPECT ISSUES IF YOU IGNORE! ** VIEW WEB BASED INSTALL GUIDE @ http://www.geedee.com.au/ See Nav Link | Downloads | Technical Notes | STEP-BY-STEP INSTALL NOTES | ... or use WebForward via direct link @ http://vws.geedee.com.au/ ** FOR WORKSTATION INSTALLS Remember to map a G:\ Drive on your Workstation to your elected Server's shared \GDData\ folder. Map the network drive before running the SetupGD.EXE, Workstation Type Installation. See "(2) Technical Notes - Map Drives.PDF". ** Refer to Technical Documentation if unsure of network drive mapping procedures. See "(2) Technical Notes - Map Drives.PDF". ** Also see folder "\Program Files\GeeDee\Proman\" for all the required and up to date GeeDee technical documentation. This information is automatically updated when the GeeDee WebUpdate Utility is run. ** VISTA & 7 WORKSTATION INSTALLS & THE BDE INFORMATION: In the BDE Administrator the "Object" | "Options" | "Save for use with" should be set to "Windows 3.1 and Windows 95/NT" (all changes are saved to just the CFG file). ** ALL OTHER WORKSTATION INSTALLS & THE BDE INFORMATION: In the BDE Administrator the "Object" | "Options" | "Save for use with" should be set to "Windows 95/NT only" (This will save all System and Driver settings to the registry). NB: A safer option is to toggle between "Windows 95/NT only", config settings updated and then the "Save for use with" option changed back to "Window 3.1..." etc. This will ensure that changes are written to both the CFG file (for 16bit/ MS Vista compatibility) and to the registry (for 32bit compatibility). ** MS Vista & 7 - User Account Control (UAC). We recommend to disable UAC in GeeDee. For step-by-step instructions please view our website. See http://www.geedee.com.au/ | link "MS Vista - User Account Control (UAC)" ** NOTES FOR INSTALLER UNDER VISTA & 7 SINGLE USER: - Local / Single User installs presently create the PDOXUSRS.NET files in the root of C:\ drive. Under MS Vista permissions this is not allowed. - Single User installs require that the PDOXUSRS.NET is now created in a new folder called "C:\BDEShare\". In the BDE Administrator the Tab "Configuration" | "Drivers" | "Native" | "PARADOX" | "NET DIR" should now be set to folder "C:\BDEShare\". ** MS Windows7x x32 & x64 require alternate locales to English AU. Presently all English Australia Locales are interpreted as English United State (US) MM/dd/yyyy. UPDATED copies of these instruction documents can always be found on the GeeDee website @ http://www.geedee.com.au | Downloads | Technical Notes. -- ALWAYS refer to the GeeDee website for current and updated documentation! -- ================================================================================ ================================================================================ NOTE 1 - Always run the GeeDee WebUpdate program before starting a Workstation Type Installation. NOTE 2 - Please remember to read and follow the "(1) System Requirements.PDF", "(2) Technical Notes.PDF" and fax through to GeeDee the "FAST FINISH.Doc" after completing any installation. NOTE 3 - You should have only ONE INSTALLATION of the Borland Database Engine (\BDE\ folder, BDEAdmin.EXE) on the whole network system and only ONE PDOXUSRS.NET. (NOTE: GeeDee creates this control-locking file in the Root Folder of the drive where GEEDEE is located). For ease of use please utilise the pre-built GeeDee Search file "GeeDee Search.FND". The File can be located in our "\Program Files\GeeDee\Proman\" or by using the webforward http://search.geedee.com.au. Please use the "GeeDee Search" facility in MS® Windows® to confirm one of each of the "BDEAdmin.EXE" & "PDOXUSRS.NET" files. (This search should only find 4 files and they must only ever be located in the G:\... Drive. NOTE 4 - If a NETWORKED GeeDee installation is found to be installed into the C:\ drive of any NT operating system, GeeDee will not be able to provide software support until it is rectified. NOTE 5 - Avoid wireless networks due to large amounts of data communicated over application server networks. Cabled networks are more secure and far more reliable. NOTE 6 - The SetupGD.EXE file can be downloaded by copying the weblink below http://setup.geedee.com.au or by navigating to the GeeDee website @ http://www.geedee.com.au | Downloads | Software. On the CDROM please refer to folder X:\GeeDee - Install\SetupGD.EXE NOTE 7 - For new SERVER INSTALLS at existing client sites please re run the Workstation Install on each GeeDee PC. ------------------------ **IMPORTANT: THIS INSTALLATION IS ONLY DESIGNED FOR THE 5.2Ver BDE INSTALL** Please confirm that your Borland Database Engine (BDE) install location is: "\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE" ------------------------ ================================================================================ ================================================================================ We also provide the following online service and support options: Internet - http://www.geedee.com.au ( Technical Support | Downloads | General Information ) ** Also see folder "\Program Files\GeeDee\Proman\" for all the required and up to date GeeDee technical documentation.
