Installing GeeDee Server for Windows
This below link page contains some simple step-by-step information for running the GeeDee for Windows Installation Software.
Please note that all new Server installs and Server migrations are to be done by GeeDee Software Support Staff at a pre-arranged and appointed time. Your help in this matter is appreciated as database structure changes are attended to at this time as well other optimisations. Thank you.
Before you install GeeDee for Windows on a network file server or client workstation, it is important to understand the some basic components of the installation and under take a few tasks before proceeding.
The GeeDee MS® Windows® installation program is code protected. Please refer to the installation screens displayed in the GeeDee Installer for the code request form for Workstation installs.
You MUST be logged into the installing machine with administrator rights.
Never disable the Write-Cache on a Server PC / File Server for GeeDee.
Have valid and working printer/s installed and configured.
For new SERVER INSTALLS at existing client sites DO NOT simply copy folders to new SERVER and hope that it works. Like all software products it requires installation. EXPECT ISSUES IF YOU IGNORE!
For new SERVER INSTALLS at existing client sites please re-run the Workstation Installs on each GeeDee PC. This will update any required registry settings and more importantly it will perform a communications test back to the new server. EXPECT ISSUES IF YOU IGNORE!
Close out of all programs running on your computer.
Make sure that you have reviewed this information site before proceeding any further and pay close attention to the information throughout the GeeDee Windows based installer software program.
Proceed when the form is signed by you the installer as well as the relevant business Lessor / manager / licensee. Code to install will not be provided until this is form is submitted and received by GeeDee Software Support Staff.
After you have completed reviewing the GeeDee documentation please proceed. Copies of these documents exist as hyperlinks throughout this guide and are available from our website and is also located in folder "\Program Files\GeeDee\Proman\". ATTENTION Installer / Operator – Do not proceed any further unless you agree to complete and sign the mandatory checklist for your client. The FastFinish forms part of our EULA and is a necessary requirement to be completed by the installer. This checklist will automatically load to print after each install.
Now you can locate and execute the New_Client_SetupGD.exe installer program by double left clicking on the installer file.
NOTE: It is recommended, if you are installing GeeDee into Windows 7/8/10/2008/2011/2012, it will pay to first to create a separate partition (See Shrink a Volume HDD) as a "G:\ Drive" for your main GeeDee PC and label it "GDData". Please review these steps before proceeding. For Terminal Servers, it is mandatory that you shrink a Volume and create a separate Partition or Hard Drive which is to become the dedicated GeeDee "G:\ Drive".

Please continue if you see a similar message. It may be that this has had a Workstation install ran on it previously. Be sure that it has not had a Single local user install ran. Please remove local \Borland Shared\ folder and local \GeeDee\ folder if a Single user install was accidentally ran.
If you are not installing into a dedicated G: drive as suggested, please follow screen examples to pick your desired install location.
Server install is typically a file copy process only. At this stage, for speed, it is not necessary to adjust dates or create a restore point. NB: Uncheck Restore Point if installing into a MS SBS box.
